Why Chelsea Could Win This Match
Chelsea really come into this match reeling heavily. After their aggregate defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League, the Blues also lost their match versus London rivals Arsenal last weekend. They did have some good moments, like putting six past Southampton in an absolute rout where Timo Werner found his scoring boots after a very long time. Despite the defeat to Arsenal the week after that, it is a confidence boost for some in the lineup.

Despite their up and down form, this is a heavily talented team. Chelsea is full of really great footballers, headlined by their young duo of Kai Havertz and Mason Mount. As said above, German striker Werner is also finding his touch, scoring in three out of their last four games, including two versus the Saints. It is entirely true that Romelu Lukaku is still unable to get going, but the rest of the roster is very strong and should not be underestimated.
Chelsea have a great coach in Thomas Tuchel and in him a manager that knows how to get his squad going. While the defeat in the Champions League and the derby loss to Arsenal must sting, Chelsea should be back this Sunday to show the entire EPL that they are still a huge club. Amidst all the controversy surrounding their owner, Roman Abramovich, Chelsea should look to close this season out strong and a win at home versus West Ham would be a great start.
Why West Ham Could Win This Match
For the entirety of the season, West Ham's participation in European competitions next season was fairly unquestioned. They even spent a ton of the season in the top four. However, the Hammers clearly felt the impact of playing European football next to their EPL campaign, and they gradually fell off in the standings. Now, West Ham are seventh and they have Wolverhampton breathing down their necks. Winning against Chelsea is imperative for the Hammers if they want to secure continental football next season, regardless of their result in the Europa League.
West Ham definitely have the talent necessary to win this affair. They will be without the services of three of their center-backs, as Kurt Zouma joins Angelo Ogbonna and Issa Diop as ruled out for this game. Still, due to the versatility of their arguably best player Declan Rice, West Ham should have no issues picking out a solid eleven as they meet Chelsea at the iconic Stamford Bridge.
The Hammers need this win badly and that is why they could end up as victors in this clash. Despite injuries, they have versatile players, a solid midfield to counter Kante, Jorginho, and other stars that Chelsea have, and an in-form Jarrod Bowen who could score against anyone in the world right now. West Ham have the capacity to win, it will be up to them whether they show the desire to do it on Sunday.
