The Texas Rangers are starting to show why they won the World Series last season, winning seven of their last ten games after a small World Series hangover through April. It hasn't been going as well for the Colorado Rockies, losing eight of their past ten games and owning a 9-28 record. This marks the first meeting between these teams this season, with the Rangers getting a three-game sweep last season in Texas. It is time to continue our MLB odds series with a Rangers-Rockies prediction, pick, and how-to-watch.
Andrew Heaney will start for the Rangers. A poor win/loss record overshadows his performance this season, as his 2.20 ERA over his last five starts includes just one win for Texas. The Rangers offense has done Heaney no favors, scoring 12 runs over those five starts. Heaney has experience against this Rockies team, starting one of the games in the sweep last season, allowing six hits and no earned runs over six innings. The Rockies' offense has worsened since last season, which should do Heaney some favors.
Ryan Feltner struggled this season but joined the club with the rest of the Rockies' starters. Colorado's starters have a collective 6.17 ERA, which isn't surprising considering they are 9-28 this season. Feltner has been one of the better starters, posting a 5.54 ERA, and is an all-important groundball pitcher, which serves pitchers well at Coors Field. Feltner has two starts at Coors Field this season, allowing five earned runs and zero home runs over ten innings.

Why The Rangers Will Cover The Spread/Win
We outlined Andrew Heaney's difficulty getting run support in his previous starts. It has led to him losing four of his last five starts while owning a 2.20 ERA. The good news for Heaney is that the Rangers will have no problem getting him run support against the Rockies. Feltner could limit runs better than the other starters on their roster, but once he comes out after his max of six innings, their bullpen has an 8.69 ERA over the last three games.
Heaney hopes he can stick in the game long enough to exit with a lead, and finally get the elusive win that has escaped him in his 0-4 start to the season.
Why The Rockies Will Cover The Spread/Win
This seems like a common response when trying to find a reason to bet on the Rockies this season, but once again, there is no real good reason to back the Rockies. Andrew Heaney has been lights out despite his record but has the luxury of playing in some hitter-friendly ballparks.
Heaney is generally a flyball pitcher, but those hitter-friendly parks have helped him. He did give up two home runs in consecutive starts against the Braves and Mariners, which could cause problems at Coors Field. The Rockies don't have much power down their lineup, but a couple of good swings with runners on base could put them in a position for the upset on Saturday.
Final Rangers-Rockies Prediction & Pick
We did our best to make a case for the Rockies in this game, but this has to be all Rangers. The Rangers hitters have to feel the burden of not getting Heaney a win, and this game is the best chance to get the monkey off his back. Take the Rangers offense to explode and give Heaney his first win.
