The Chicago Sky take on Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. Our WNBA odds series has our Sky Fever prediction, odds, and pick. Find out how to watch Sky Fever.
The Caitlin Clark story is not going to have a happy 2024. The Indiana Fever continue to lose games, and the bottom line for Clark is that this season is going to be a journey of hard knocks and difficult lessons. This isn't Clark's fault, but it is her burden. She is the face of the WNBA, but she needs help on the Indiana roster. That help simply won't come instantly. Everyone can see how limited this Fever roster truly is. Clark can only do so much when the game doesn't open up for her and defenses can take her away. Moreover, the athleticism and quality at all five spots on the floor is higher than it was for Clark in the college game. Clark could hunt matchups, either for herself or others, with more consistency than what she can do now. This season is Clark's classroom. She must take notes on what opposing teams and defenders are doing to not only contain her, but her teammates. The Fever need to do their homework as well in finding roster upgrades and coaching solutions so that the pieces of the puzzle can come together. They aren't going to come together anytime soon.
The Seattle Storm — who beat the Fever by only two points at home earlier in May — crushed Indiana a few nights ago. The game was never close in the second half, and the Fever were visibly frustrated with their utter lack of answers. Now the Chicago Sky come to Indianapolis for a lunchtime game on Saturday. Will the early tip time give the Fever a different level of energy compared to what we have recently seen? We'll see.
The big storyline attached to this game, other than the Fever's pursuit of a first home win this season, is that it is a matchup between Clark and Angel Reese of LSU. The two met in the 2023 NCAA national championship game and then again in the 2024 Elite Eight, with Clark's Iowa team and Reese's LSU team winning once each. Reese, however, won the bigger game in 2023 to claim a national title. Clark did return to the national title game one year later and beat LSU to do it. Now these two college superstars meet in the pros.

Why The Sky Could Cover The Spread
The Sky just hammered the Los Angeles Sparks in a convincing win. Notably, the Sky lost by nine at home to the Seattle Storm a few days before their win over the Sparks. Was that game versus Seattle more of a reflection on the Storm being good, or the Sky being mediocre? When Seattle went into Indiana and buried the Fever, we got a good indication that the Storm are thriving right now, which means the Sky's loss to Seattle looks better and better. If Seattle could destroy the Fever, the Sky — while not winning in a romp — should still cover what is a fairly small point spread.
Why The Fever Could Cover The Spread
The Fever are still looking for their first home-court win of the season. They had to have been embarrassed by their no-show against the Storm. They will come out roaring, and that will help them cover the spread.
Final Sky-Fever Prediction & Pick
Betting against the Fever is usually a winner. Keep doing it until proven otherwise. Take Chicago.
Final Sky-Fever Prediction & Pick: Sky -3.5
