The Edmonton Oilers hope to tie up the series with the Dallas Stars in game four of the series. It is time to continue our NHL odds series with a Stars-Oilers Game 4 prediction and pick.
The first game of the series did not see a goal in the first period, but after a scoreless first, Leon Draisaitl scored to make it 1-0 just 58 seconds into the second period. Zach Hyman would add a goal just three minutes later to make it 2-0. Then, Tyler Seguin scored less than two minutes after Hyman to close the gap. It would be Seguin who would tie the game late in the third as well. After a scoreless first overtime, it would just take 32 seconds into the second overtime for the game to end. Connor McDavid found the back of the net to win the game.
In game two, there was no wait for goals. Jamie Benn scored 3:39 into the game to give the Stars the lead. Connor Brown scored less than a minute later to tie the game. There would be no goals for the next 40 minutes, but 3:31 into the third period, Mason Marchment scored to give the Stars the lead again. Esa Lindell added an empty net goal, and the Stars would win 3-1. Game three saw the Oilers grab a solid first-period lead. Zach Hyman scored in just 2:02 into the game and then Connor McDavid added a goal five minutes later. In the second, Jason Robertson would score twice in two and a half minutes to tie the game. Wyatt Johnston would then give the Starts the lead, but the Oilers would tie it back up. Robertson would complete his hat trick in the third, and then a Miro Heiskanen empty net goal would give the Stars the 5-3 victory and a 2-1 series lead.

The Stars have been led in the playoffs by Jason Robertson. Robertson led the team in the regular season and continues that in the playoffs. He had 29 goals and 51 assists in the regular season. This gave him 80 total points. In the playoffs, he has six goals and ten assists, with two and four assists coming on the power play. Wyatt Johnston has also been great this year. He has eight goals and six assists so far in the playoffs, after having 32 goals and 33 assists in the regular season. He also has two goals and an assist on the power play. Johnston had just three goals and seven assists on the power play in the regular season.
Meanwhile, Miro Heiskanen continues to be great. The Blue Liner was one of the top producers in the regular season and continues to do so. He has six goals and nine assists in the playoffs, good for 15 total points. He also has three goals and four assists on the power play. Also adding production is Jamie Benn. Benn has now scored four times and has nine assists in the playoffs.
Jake Oettinger will be in goal for this one for the Stars. He has been solid in the playoffs. Oettinger has 2.09 goals against average and a .923 save percentage. Last time out, he saved 28 of 31 shots in the win. In this series, Oettengier has been amazing. He has allowed just seven goals so far in the series, on 98 shots. That is good for a .929 save percentage in the series and two wins.
Why The Oilers Will Cover The Spread/Win
The Oilers need to get major production from their major players to win in this one. Connor McDavid has continued to play well in the playoffs. He has four goals and 21 assists in the playoffs, with a goal and ten assists on the power play. McDavid led the team all year, having 32 goals and 100 assists in the regular season, while also having seven goals and 37 assists on the power play.
Leon Draisaitl also has been solid. He has scored nine goals and has 16 assists this year in the playoffs, good for 25 points. He also has six goals and six assists on the power play. Draisaitl was second on the team in points this year, having 41 goals and 15 assists. Meanwhile, goals have been coming from Zach Hyman here in the playoffs. He has 13 goals so far in the playoffs and has three assists. This is not abnormal for Hyman. He led the team with 54 goals in the regular season. The Oilers have also received help from the blue line in the playoffs, as Evan Bouchard has five goals and 17 assists. Bouchard was third on the team in points in the regular season, having 82 of them.
Stuart Skinner is expected to be in goals for the Oilers in this one. He has made 13 starts in the playoffs, with a 2.76 goals-against average and a .885 save percentage. Last time out was a disaster for Skinner. He allowed four goals on just 21 shots and took the loss. In the playoffs, this is the third time Skinners have been at or below .810 in save percentage. In the prior two instances, he allowed just one goal in the next game and took the win.
Final Stars-Oilers Prediction & Pick
Both of these teams can score a high volume of goals. Skinner struggled last time out, but he should bounce back. The Oilers will still score plenty in this one. The Stars should also keep scoring well. The best play in this one is not on the side but on the total. Take the over.
