Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott confirmed that quarterback Josh Allen is still in the concussion protocol as the team gets ready for their Week 5 showdown with the Tennessee Titans.

Allen suffered a concussion during the team's loss against the New England Patriots and if he can't go it will be Matt Barkley who will get the start.

The Bills released offensive tackle Conor McDermott on Thursday afternoon to put the roster at 53 and no corresponding move has been made, which might be saved to sign a backup quarterback. The Bills currently have quarterback Davis Webb on the practice squad and he could be signed if Allen can't go.

The injury has caused some, including Brett Favre, to bring up Allen's style of quarterback play. Favre thinks that it's good that Allen is aggressively playing the game, but thinks it might be time to change his style.

“From a coach’s standpoint, they’re going to have to demand that he not play as reckless as he has,” Favre told The Athletic. “What I would tell him, from a physical standpoint is, ‘Hey, Josh. I get it. I see you diving and running over people. I was that guy, too. But listen, man. Take it from a guy who’s played a long time and learned maybe later than I should’ve, there’s a time and place when you try for extra yards. That wasn’t it. You’ve got to be smarter.’”

It's hard to imagine Allen playing this weekend, which is going to make it an uphill climb against the Titans.
