Kelvin Benjamin was a member of the Carolina Panthers. That was until the franchise moved him to the Buffalo Bills at the trade deadline. It was a relative shock to those who follow the National Football League, but the talented receiver wasn't taken by surprise.

“To tell you the truth, I kind of really wasn't surprised,” Kelvin Benjamin said, according to Mike Rodak of ESPN. “I could kind of feel that the offense was kind of going toward another direction. But this is a great opportunity for me. I'm excited – brand-new city, brand-new team. When I got here, man, they had open arms. I'm loving it. I'm excited.”

That is some real optimism by the youngster.

While he wasn't taken by surprise by the trade, he isn't exactly sure why it happened.

“It could have been multiple reasons,” Benjamin said. “Money issues. Who knows? At the end of the day, I'm here, I'm happy, I'm excited. Right now, I'm just moving forward.”

A former first-round pick, he was productive in Carolina when healthy, despite a torn ACL cost him the entire 2015 season. This could be a sneaky great pickup for the Bills, who are better than most people expected at this point in the season.

As for the Panthers, removing any solid weapons from Cam Newton does seem a bit unwise. The quarterback is already carrying too much of the load as is, but there are likely other factors — other than just play on the field concerns — that went into this decision.
