NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has weighed in on the possibility of the Buffalo Bills getting a new stadium.

Goodell told The Athletic's Matthew Fairburn on June 2 he supports the idea of a new stadium in Buffalo because he wants the Bills to remain competitive.

I think they're doing the work and talking about what it takes, and what do they need, because each one of these, there's no secret sauce.

What works in Dallas doesn't work in Buffalo, necessarily. The reason why I'm supportive is because I want to make sure this franchise remains stable here, and continues, and remains competitive.

And I think it's great for this community. And we've been able to do these stadiums in such a way that it creates a tremendous economic benefit, too. I want the Bills to be successful and I want them to continue to be competitive here in Buffalo.

The Bills currently have an agreement with Erie County to play at New Era Field (formerly Ralph Wilson Stadium) for four more years. The stadium has existed for almost 46 years.

If Buffalo does build a new stadium, Bills co-owner Terry Pegula says he foresees “a scaled-down version of some of these places that are being built around the country,” per The Buffalo News‘ Vic Carucci.

Pegula added, “We need to do something that's Buffalo style,” per Carucci. Personally, Pegula is against the idea of a domed stadium in Buffalo. However, he's open to what the fans prefer.

It's about time the Buffalo Bills and their fans have a new stadium experience – they've had the same stadium for almost 46 years. It seems NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is for the idea. That's a good start for the Bills.
