The Buffalo Bills suffered a brutal loss in overtime to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, and head coach Sean McDermott was faced with questions about whether or not he trusts Josh Allen after he decided to kneel at the end of regulation and not going for it on 4th-and-6 in overtime.

“Of course you (want to trust Josh Allen) and that's why you're saying 4th-and-3 and maybe even 4th-and-3, we're going for it right there,” Sean McDermott said, via Matt Parrino Syracuse.com. “That to me is putting the ball in Josh Allen's hands. When you're 4th-and-6, that gets to be, you're playing the percentages even on paper, and then you're weighing out the cost-benefit of getting points here and maybe we can stop them. Obviously, that didn't work out. Give them some credit – they're a good offense as well with good players. But you look at putting the ball in the hands of your best player and that's Josh Allen. Unfortunately, we didn't execute on 3rd down when we had the opportunity to and that left us with the 4th down decision.”

Allen had Gabe Davis open in the end zone for a touchdown that would have won the game for the Bills in overtime. Instead, McDermott decided to kick a field goal and give the Bills a lead, hoping the defense could stop the Eagles.

It did not go as planned. Jalen Hurts ran in for a game-winning touchdown for the Eagles, and the Bills dropped to 6-6 on the season.

The Bills go into the bye week and will prepare to face the Kansas City Chiefs on the road on Dec. 10.
