The Buffalo Bills surprised a whole lot of people this past season, winning 10 games and making the playoffs. They even challenged the New England Patriots for AFC East supremacy.

Now, with Tom Brady out of the division, there are some who view the Bills as AFC East favorites heading into 2020.

However, with the lack of organized team activities and offseason workouts due to the coronavirus pandemic, it might be tough for Buffalo to improve in the short term.

The fact that the Bills just added a big-name receiver in Stefon Diggs makes practice even more necessary, as Josh Allen would obviously love to work with his new target.

Head coach Sean McDermott understands the obstacles that his team is facing and recently said as much, specifically noting the aerial attack as an area of trouble:

“We usually spend about 70 percent of our spring trying to shape our passing game,” said McDermott, via The Rochester Democrat & Chronicle. “There’s no pads on so not a lot of sense spending a whole lot of time on the run game in spring ball. In training camp it flips a little bit, starts to even out, maybe 60-40, 50-50, because you have pads on and you can work the 9-on-7 drills. That’s the biggest thing we’re missing, time on task in developing the passing game.”

McDermott added that he is “concerned” about how Allen and Diggs will mesh, but said that his club's motto this offseason is to “find a way.”

The Bills have made just two postseason appearances since 2000 and have not won a playoff game since the 1995-96 campaign.
