Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard has been repeatedly linked to the Golden State Warriors amid incessant trade rumors in the offseason.

However, it seems that Lillard has already shut down all whispers. He is expected to stay with the Trail Blazers. Still, this hasn't stopped him from talking about the Warriors.

Lillard, who grew up in Oakland, has always loved playing against Stephen Curry and Company. Even though he's from the opposing team, Bay Area fans still shower him with love every time the Trail Blazers visit the Warriors at Chase Center (via Heavy).

“It’s a special connection. It means a lot to me because it’s similar to when I go home to Oakland and I play against the Golden State Warriors. When they call my name in the starting lineups, the crowd shows me a lot of love and it’s the same when we play against the (Utah) Jazz. They say ‘from Weber State’ and everybody just kind of goes crazy out of love.”

The 31-year-old Lillard has always been extra proud of his roots. That mindset has helped him stay grounded despite all his achievements with the Trail Blazers.

“It’s a great level of appreciation on my side because these are the people that had this type of appreciation for me before the rest of the world even knew who I was. I never lose sight of that. I never take that for granted.”

For Damian Lillard, you can take the man out of Oakland, but you can't take Oakland out of the man.
