Damian Lillard is aware of Portland Trail Blazers history, an Oregon Trail leading through the past which leads to Brandon Roy.

In a time when NBA superstars are joining one another to form a championship team, a dynasty, there's this question that usually passes through everyone's head; What if a current NBA star could play with one of the greats from the past?

Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard was asked a somewhat similar question by Billboard.com's Eric Diep. Which former Blazer would he like to play with if he had the chance? Dame says it's Brandon Roy.

Roy, the sixth pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, played for the Blazers for five seasons. During his prime, he was one of the best offensive players in the game. Unfortunately, a series of injuries cut his career short, and he became one of those ‘could've, would've, should've' guys.

Roy officially retired in 2013.

Had Roy stayed healthy, he and Dame would've had a chance to play together. He was just 28 years old when Lillard was drafted, and he probably would still be in his prime. Of course, there's no telling if they would've led the Blazers to a championship, but a backcourt of Roy and Lillard would've been fun to watch.

Lillard has taken Roy's role with the Blazers. He is now the team's best player and he's doing everything he could to make Portland the best team in the West. He's had his fair share of disappointments, but Dame remains optimistic about the Blazers' future.

The NBA has seen a lot of guys retire early because of injuries, but in his brief stint in the league, Roy was able to cement his legacy as one of the best players to ever wear a Blazers jersey.

And Dame recognizes that.
