The BIG3 just got another headline name. Greg Oden has joined the draft pool for this season:

Greg Oden is widely considered one of the biggest busts of all time. Drafted first overall in 2007, injuries shortened his career to just 105 games over three seasons. What makes it even worse, he was drafted one spot ahead of Kevin Durant.

What's easy to forget is just how good he was, though, even in the NBA when healthy.

In his rookie season (2008-09) with the Portland Trail Blazers, Oden averaged 8.9 points and 7.0 rebounds, as well as 1.1 blocks per game. He did so in just 21.5 minutes per game over 61 contests.

He appeared in just 21 games the next season, but he made the most of it. With a slight increase in playing time (23.9 minutes per game), Oden saw a nice jump in his numbers. The big man averaged 11.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. He would've been a monster if he didn't have injury problems.

He was also the star of one of the greatest commercials:

That would be the last time he played until 2013-14, when he tried to make a comeback with the Miami Heat. Sadly, he appeared in just 23 games and hasn't been in the NBA since.

Now he's back in the basketball world with the BIG3.

The BIG3 has done nicely for itself since Ice Cube announced the idea, and the league continues to pull in big names that should generate more and more interest.

This upcoming season will be the league's third. The BIG3 is shown on FOX Sports and the schedule is set to drop in April.

Greg Oden is still only 31. Although he announced his retirement from professional basketball in 2016, this could change things. If things go well, maybe he decides to give the NBA one last try — there's still a lot of time to carve together a strong career.
