Tuesday night did not turn out as planned for the Portland Trail Blazers, as they were defeated by the Washington Wizards at home, 106-92.
They also lost their starting center, Jusuf Nurkic, as he hurt his ankle in the fourth quarter, and was forced to exit the game early. He went directly to their locker room after missing a free throw and did not return to action.
Jusuf Nurkic landed awkwardly during a shot and hurt his right ankle/lower leg. He was down on the court for a while, but eventually got up and attempted a free throw. Afterward, with 6:28 remaining, he left the game.

It is still unclear what the extent of the injury is, but if there's any good sign for the Blazers and their fans, Jusuf Nurkic was able to limp off the court and put some weight on the injured ankle. A series of tests are expected to be done on him to check if there's any structural damage to his ankle.
Should the Bosnian international be forced to miss some games, Caleb Swanigan and Meyers Leonard should see an uptick in their minutes, and will most likely share the playing time at the center spot. Nurkic is having a good season so far with solid averages of 15.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.2 blocks in 28.0 minutes per game.
