Damian Lillard's future with the Portland Trail Blazers is still unknown, but it looks like the team still has a chance to show him they can become title contenders.

Recently, it has been rumored that Lillard would be demanding a trade soon from the Blazers. While Dame immediately denied those speculations, he also didn't provide any assurance that he would stay with the team. The 31-year-old emphasized the need for Portland to have a sense of urgency and not be satisfied with the current roster and being just playoff contenders.

Now, per Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, an Eastern Conference source said the general belief is Lillard is going to see what the Blazers will do first in the offseason and play it out. He will then decide on his future closer to the trade deadline.

“It sounds like he is not getting moved anytime soon,” the East source said. “From what I've heard, [Lillard is] going to give it a chance and then decide closer to the [trade] deadline.”

There have been several teams linked to Damian Lillard, including the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers. The Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks and Miami Heat are also among the handful of teams reportedly interested in Dame.

However, if the latest rumor is true, the aforementioned teams might have to wait for some time to know if they can obtain the superstar.

Regardless, this latest talk on Lillard fits well with his previous remarks demanding a change in Portland's roster and overall culture. Dame wants to win, and that will surely be the biggest factor when it's time to make a decision about his future.
