According to multiple reports, former Trail Blazers All-Star Brandon Roy was shot while visiting his grandmother in California over the weekend. The shooting was reportedly a random act of violence and Roy got shot while he was trying to protect children in the home.

He reportedly was injured by the shooting but was recovering. However, there are now conflicting stories as according to the high school players he coaches in Seattle, Roy wasn't injured or even shot.

Writing to the Seattle Times, Nathan Hale senior guard Kateel Barnett denied that Roy was shot. Barnett said he spoke to Roy and that his coach is fine and wasn't involved in a shooting.

“The allegations are false. Coach Brandon Roy is fine,” senior guard Kateel Barnett wrote in an email to The Seattle Times Wednesday afternoon.

When asked in a follow up email whether he had spoken to Roy since Saturday, Barnett wrote, “Yes. He’s informed me he’s completely fine.”

However, Barnett’s assertion that Roy was not the person who was shot on Saturday is similar to assertions tweeted by his teammates P.J. Fuller and MarJon Beauchamp.

Fuller, a starting guard for Nathan Hale, tweeted “lie again” on Tuesday night in response to a KING 5 tweet about Roy getting shot. That tweet has since been deleted.

Beauchamp, a freshman guard, also, on Tuesday night retweeted the KING 5 report about Roy with the comment, “It is wrong.” But his tweet was also deleted sometime on Wednesday afternoon.

More reports and revelations will likely be forthcoming as the situation surrounding Roy's shooting has taken a strange turn.
