Yesterday, Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuna Jr. dropped a scathing take on his former teammate Freddie Freeman. In his Instagram livestream, the outfielder went on a rant against Freeman, saying in his native Spanish language that:

“I won’t miss Freddie Freeman. We had friction, he didn’t care when I was plunked. Freddie was overbearing and he wasn’t someone I could talk to ever,”

The sudden outburst from Acuna surprised many Braves fans, who are still relishing in their first World Series title win. Though Acuna missed the entirety of the postseason due to injury, it was still surprising to see the outfielder lash out against his former long-time teammate.

Acuna would deny his statements in a later tweet. On Opening Day, Freeman (now with the Los Angeles Dodgers) was asked about Acuna's comments regarding him being overbearing. The ex-Braves first baseman said that he loves and misses his former teammate, but his other comments were rather… interesting. (via Jake Seiner)

On the surface, it seemed like Acuna wasn't too happy with the veteran Freeman upholding the Braves' house rules. Based on Freeman's comments, it does seem like Freeman acknowledges that he did rag on Acuna to follow the rules. No one's necessarily in the wrong here, it's just two men disagreeing on their viewpoints.

After a long time with the Braves, Freeman bolted in the off-season to their long-time rivals in the Dodgers. Fans aren't too mad at Freeman for this move, though: he did help them win their first title in history. In addition, they were able to snag one hell of a replacement in Matt Olson. Fans are now looking for the team to start a new era of successful baseball in Atlanta, behind Acuna, Dansby Swanson, Ozzie Albies, and ace pitcher Max Fried.

The Braves and Dodgers are set to engage in a three-game series in two weeks time. We'll see whether Acuna's comments will fire up Freddie Freeman and light up his former team. On the other hand, Atlanta will want to show their former franchise icon that the future is now, and they'll be just fine without him.
