Brock Osweiler didn’t exactly look like Peyton Manning in his first start for the Denver Broncos since 2015, tossing for 208 yards on 19-of-38 completions to go with a touchdown and a pair of interceptions in a 51-23 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

Despite the ugly loss and the uninspiring performance from Osweiler, Denver head coach Vance Joseph is sticking with the 26-year-old quarterback at least for another week, per Mike Klis of 9News.

This announcement from Joseph puts Osweiler in line for a duel with New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, but that could also be his last start of the season, as the Broncos appear to be merely using Osweiler as a placeholder for Paxton Lynch, who is getting close to full recovery from a shoulder injury.

The Broncos are not hinting on giving the keys to the offense back to Trevor Siemian, who’ve played so inconsistently it forced Denver to go for Osweiler. While Seimian started the season off well, he has been turnover-prone after the first two games of the campaign. Not an ideal thing, especially not when Denver would prefer to rely on its defense and limit turnovers on the offensive side of the ball.

The Broncos are on a four-game skid which has greatly amplified the team’s need to find the right quarterback to salvage their sinking season. The problem concerning their offense goes beyond the quarterback position though. The Broncos’ offensive line has been problematic also with the unit surrendering the third-most sacks so far this season.
