Longtime Denver Broncos star wide receiver Demaryius Thomas just announced that he's going to retire as a Bronco.

The Broncos posted a video about Thomas' decision:

John Elway released a statement on Thomas' decision:

The Broncos selected Demaryius Thomas with the 22nd pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Thomas played eight-plus seasons with the franchise and also spent time with the Houston Texans, New York England Patriots (he was cut before the season) and New York Jets. He last played for the Jets in the 2019 season.

It took a few seasons, but Thomas blossomed into one of the best wide receivers in the NFL in Denver. He went to three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2012-14 and then earned another Pro Bowl nod in 2016. The wide receiver notched five consecutive 1,000-yard seasons from 2012-2016 and was always a reliable presence.

Demaryius Thomas caught 94 passes for 1,434 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2012, and he followed that up by catching 92 passes for 1,430 yards and a career-high 14 touchdown receptions in 2013. Thomas helped the Broncos reach the Super Bowl with a big playoff run, only for them to lose to the Seattle Seahawks. Then came his career-high 111 catches for 1,619 yards and 10 scores in 2014.

Thomas and the Broncos got back to the Super Bowl to cap off the 2015 season, and this time they were able to get a win over the Carolina Panthers. While Thomas was quiet in that Super Bowl victory, he did have a historic Super Bowl performance in the loss to the Seahawks, catching 13 passes for 118 yards and a score.

Demaryius Thomas owns a number of Broncos records and goes down as one of the best players in franchise history. It's cool to see him retiring as a Bronco.
