The NFL community is mourning after the sudden death of Denver Broncos legend Demaryius Thomas, who was found dead in his Georgia home on Friday night. He was just 33-years-old. One of the best wide receivers to ever play for the Broncos, one of Thomas' ex-teammates believes they should be retiring his number instantly.

Via TMZ Sports:

“It's just fitting, it just makes sense,” said the former Broncos linebacker, who played with Thomas in Denver for years. “[He's] one of the greatest Broncos ever.”

“He's one of the greatest Broncos of all-time, point blank, period,” Marshall said. “He's one of the greatest receivers of my era — of our generation. One of the greatest receivers in franchise history.”

Thomas only retired from the NFL this past summer after a decorated 10-year career in the league, all with the Broncos. He was Denver's first-round pick alongside Tim Tebow in the 2010 NFL Draft. He finished as the team's second-leading wideout with 9,055 yards and is third in catches behind only Rod Smith and Shannon Sharpe.

Thomas' family released a statement after his death and revealed that he's been having seizures on a relatively consistent basis. They believe Thomas had one in the shower and that ultimately led to his heart stopping.

It's a very sad situation because Thomas was truly a great person on and off the field. There's no doubt the Broncos will eventually hang his #88 up in the rafters, but hopefully, they take Marshall's advice and do it sooner rather than later. He deserves it.

RIP.
