The Denver Broncos have a glaring problem at the quarterback position. The team currently has three quarterbacks on the roster (Brock Osweiler, Paxton Lynch, and Trevor Siemian) that were all at one point promising prospects, but now it appears John Elway and company will be looking for a new leader under center in the NFL offseason.

Perhaps the team's top target to be their new quarterback is Kirk Cousins of the Washington Redskins. After back-to-back years of being franchise tagged by the Redskins, Cousins will likely be on the move with Denver a genuine possibility to be his next destination in the league. Head coach Vance Joseph recently spoke about Cousins ahead of their matchup with Washington in Week 16, via ESPN's Jeff Legwold.

“I think he’s a special guy,” Broncos coach Vance Joseph said of Cousins on Wednesday. “Numberswise he’s top 10 in all the QB categories. Watch the guy play: He’s poised, he’s smart, he’s got a really strong arm; I wasn’t sure about that, but as I watch more tape, he can make every throw on the field. He’s a tough guy also. He’s been hit a lot this year … and he hasn’t blinked at all.’’

Cousins declined to answer any questions about his future after the 2017 NFL campaign as he's currently focused on facing the Broncos in Week 16 rather than joining them next season, via Legwold.

“I think there’ll be plenty of time for that when the season ends,’’ Cousins said. “I can focus right now on the Denver Broncos; I have enough to keep me busy today with that, and when the season ends I’ll have plenty of time to look at what’s next. But my best chance to have a successful future is to have a successful present.’’

Although Cousins may be a good fit in Denver, a lot can happen between now and when the team will be able to speak with the 29-year-old gunslinger. The Broncos have a lot of issues to address in the offseason along with trying to fix their quarterback situation.

Along with Cousins, there will be no shortage of viable options for the Broncos to pursue in the offseason. Drew Brees, Alex Smith, Jimmy Garoppolo, Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Bradford, AJ McCarron, Tyrod Taylor, and Jay Cutler may all be available when the times comes.
