Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons came up with a big interception in the fourth quarter of Sunday night's win over the Detroit Lions. After his heads-up play, Simmons made sure to honor the memory of former Broncos star Demaryius Thomas, who recently passed away at the age of 33.
Simmons produced a huge interception off of a wayward pass from the Lions quarterback Jared Goff, and what followed was a truly inspiring moment for the Broncos (h/t Bleacher Report on Twitter):
As soon as he got back to his feet, Simmons rushed to the sidelines to place the football on DT's No. 88. The rest of his teammates followed suit as they all paid tribute to their fallen brother.
Earlier in the game, the Broncos also honored Thomas' memory with a touching tribute video. The four-time Pro-Bowler passed away earlier in the week after reportedly suffering a seizure in his own home.
The Broncos made sure to come out of this one with a victory for DT as they blew out a hapless Detroit Lions side, 38-10. Denver is now 7-6 and is sitting at the third spot in the AFC West. They return to action next Monday to take o the Cincinnati Bengals.
