Earlier today, it was announced that Joe Flacco, former quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens, had been traded to the Denver Broncos.

Now, a new report reveals that Denver isn't going to try to re-work Flacco's contract.

According to Mike Klis of KUSA, Flacco’s contract calls for him to make $18.5 million during the 2019 season and his salaries for 2020 and 2021 are $20.25 million and $24.25 million. And while it was originally reported that the Broncos may have re-worked that contract for his benefit, Klis is now saying that this will not be the case.

NBC Sports has more details about the Joe Flacco deal.

“Those will also be Flacco’s cap hits for those seasons and none of the salaries are guaranteed, so the Broncos can move on from Flacco without any dead money left over although they’d prefer it if Flacco plays well enough to justify that cost. The Broncos also have Case Keenum on the books with a $21 million cap number and $7 million in guaranteed money for 2019. Moving on from him would leave $10 million in dead money, but there’s no commitment to Keenum in 2020 or beyond.”

Once named the Super Bowl MVP, Joe Flacco played college football at Delaware after transferring from Pittsburgh and was drafted by the Ravens in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He currently ranks seventh for most consecutive regular-season NFL game starts by a quarterback.

The league has not released any official comments by any of the teams, as they're prohibited to do so until March, when the deal is finalized.
