With the 2021 NFL free agency right around the corner, the Denver Broncos have a very important decision to make with regards to Von Miller's future with the franchise. Denver holds the option of whether to retain Miller for $18-million for the upcoming 2021 or they could decline the option that would make the 31-year-old a free agent.

There are definitely pros and cons in keeping and releasing Miller. James Palmer of The NFL Network offered a viable case for the Broncos to retain the Super Bowl 50 MVP's services for at least one more season.

Palmer noted how the Broncos had always pictured Miller and Bradley Chubb together wreaking havoc on defense. However, Chubb sat out the majority of the 2018 season, while Miller missed the 2020 campaign entirely after suffering a dislocated peroneal tendon in his ankle. Thus, Denver has only seen both on the field for a full season, and that came during Chubb's rookie year.

As Palmer suggested, Miller would still hide some of the defensive woes they have encountered. Should he leave, his departure would only lengthen their laundry list of issues on that end of the field.

Of course, Denver could just outright keep Miller's option for next year. By doing so, they could get a one-season snapshot of whether the Miller-Chubb tandem could help propel them back into the playoffs for the first time since they won the Super Bowl in 2015.

Both sides have reportedly been in discussions about restructuring a deal and this would likely entail declining Von Miller's option. However, retaining his services could come in peril if they do so, with many other teams looming to lure away the star pass rusher from Denver.
