The Broncos announced their plans for a special tribute to honor the late Demaryius Thomas on Sunday afternoon. These tributes will take place before and during their Week 14 matchup against the Detroit Lions.

Before the game, there will be a video tribute, as well as a moment of silence at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver. Both the Broncos and the Lions will wear No. 88 decals on their helmets. This is in honor of Thomas, who wore No. 88 in over eight years with the Broncos. The franchise also said that there may be additional tributes to honor the wide receiver.

The tribute announcement, written by Broncos' lead writer Aric DiLalla, quoted the current Broncos head coach. Vic Fangio emphasized the importance of these tributes, reminding the public that there are still ten players on the team that played with Thomas, along with coaches and personnel. He noted that he never had the chance to meet D.T., but has no doubt that he was a “special player and a special person” based on the responses of those around him. Thomas played for the Broncos from 2010 to 2018, while Fangio joined the organization in 2019.

So many people have expressed their emotions after hearing about the tragic loss of Thomas. This includes NFL players like Tom Brady and Tim Tebow. Of course, many people will remember Tebow and Thomas for their 80-yard touchdown performance in the 2011 AFC Wildcard game. But that isn't how he will be remembering Thomas. “I’ll be remembering him for his kindness, his smile that would light up a room, and the love he had for those in his life,” Tebow said on Friday.
