Denver Broncos defensive lineman Derek Wolfe suffered what he thought was a dislocated elbow during his team's win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday and could be out for the season as a result, according to Mike Klis of 9 News.

Wolfe said that the injury “doesn't look good.”

He will undergo more tests on Monday, but as of right now, Wolfe's prognosis for the final four games of 2019 appears bleak.

Wolfe posted five tackles and a couple of sacks against the Chargers, his latest strong performance in what has been arguably the best season of his career. On the campaign overall, Wolfe has logged 34 tackles, a career-high seven sacks and a forced fumble.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Cincinnati, was originally selected by the Broncos in the second round (36th pick overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He played in every game during his rookie year, finishing with 40 tackles and six sacks. Injuries then limited him to 11 games in 2013, and in 2014, he had a quiet season, totaling 38 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

It wasn't until 2015 that Wolfe began to return to form, registering 50 tackles and 5.5 sacks as part of a dominant Denver defense that won a Super Bowl championship.

He recorded nearly identical results in 2016, tallying 51 tackles and 5.5 sacks before injuries limited him to 11 contests in 2017. Wolfe then posted 43 tackles, 1.5 sacks, an interception and six passes defended last year.

The Broncos improved to 4-8 with the win over the Bolts and will take on the Houston Texans next weekend.
