Gary Kubiak may have a new job.

According to a new report, the Jacksonville Jaguars are currently eyeing Kubiak for the still-vacant offensive coordinator position.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network says that Kubiak, who is still the senior personnel advisor for the Denver Broncos, will be let out of his contract by GM John Elway if he ends up getting a coaching position in the NFL.

While this all sounds rather pleasant on the surface, another report suggests that the situation between Kubiak and the Broncos has deteriorated “rather quickly.”

According to Deadspin, the communication breakdown between Kubiak and the Broncos began breaking down after it was revealed that he would not be the offensive coordinator for the team.

Gary Kubiak was the Broncos' head coach until 2017 when he retired temporarily due to concerns about his declining health. Despite his health concerns, he stayed on with the team in an advisory role — a role which he currently holds — until this offseason, when he made clear that he'd like to return to a coaching position of some sort.

And though incoming Broncos head coach Vic Fangio wanted to elevate Kubiak to the offensive coordinator position, it was a decision that was ultimately reneged, in a move that shocked commentators.

Part of the reason for the communication breakdown was because Gary Kubiak wanted to bring on previously fired coaching assistants, and the Broncos higher-ups weren't willing to sign on. Additionally, Kubiak's son, Klint, was up for the position of the quarterbacks' coach for the team.
