The NFL on Monday announced this year's selections for the Pro Bowl that included many familiar faces to earn the honor along with some promising young talent.

Among those was Denver Broncos rookie running back Phillip Lindsay becoming the first undrafted offensive rookie in NFL history to receive this accolade. In light of that, Lindsay voiced that he was very appreciative to earn that honor that was a bit of an emotional moment when he found out. (h/t Chad Jensen of 247 Sports)

“It was an honor,” Lindsay said on Wednesday. “I was excited, Coach Vance and [RBs] Coach [Curtis] Modkins called me and it was a little emotional. At one point, I was just trying to make the team. I was hoping to do some [gunner] reps, some kick return and hopefully catch some balls at punt return. When they gave me the news that I was going to the Pro Bowl, it was just a real emotional moment.”

It has been an intriguing path to the NFL for Lindsay that has seen him become one of the promising young talents in the league. He had initially latched onto the Broncos in hopes of being able to secure a roster spot, but he has quickly proven that he can handle more than that as he's been the starter along with being among the most productive running backs in the league.

Lindsay has broken numerous records along the way for undrafted rookie running backs as he's also nearing becoming just the third undrafted rookie to reach 1,000 rushing yards as he's just 33 yards away from reaching that mark where he would join Dominic Rhodes (2001), and LeGarrette Blount (2010). This only speaks to his talent and work ethic that has helped get to this position this early in his NFL career.

Beyond that, it shows that Lindsay is quite humbled by the opportunity to play in the NFL and be rewarded with a huge honor for his hard work on the field.
