The Denver Broncos are gearing up to be a great team this upcoming season. They added several key players like Randy Gregory, D.J. Jones and K'Waun Williams and, of course, traded for star quarterback Russell Wilson. The trade instantly makes them a contender. Although their baseball counterparts, the Colorado Rockies, are not yet ready to compete for a title, they'll be benefiting from Wilson's arm as well.

Wilson hinted that he would be at the Rockies' home opener on Friday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reported that he will be throwing out the game's ceremonial first pitch.

Wilson spent two seasons playing minor-league ball in the Rockies farm system after he was drafted in the fourth round of the 2010 MLB Draft. He played second base and recorded 72 hits, 19 stolen bases and five home runs while posting a slash line of .229/.355/.356 across 93 games at the low level of the minors.

After the 2011 season with the Asheville Tourists, Wilson played quarterback at the University of Wisconsin, was drafted in the third round by the Seattle Seahawks and became an elite quarterback. He has still flashed his baseball roots by attending Spring Training in 2018 with the New York Yankees. Now, he's gearing up to help lead the Broncos back to the playoffs.

While the Broncos will look to return to the playoffs with their new star quarterback, the Rockies will look to make a similar bounce back with Kris Bryant, the former MVP they snagged in free agency.
