The Denver Broncos secured their second win of the season on Sunday but that didn’t mean there weren’t fireworks on the Broncos sidelines during the win. Head coach Sean Payton expressed his frustration to Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph after Denver had to burn a timeout because it only had 10 players on the field for a defensive play.

Payton addressed the situation on Monday and cleared the air on his relationship with Joseph.

“I am in a great spot with (Vance Joseph),” Payton said, via Troy Renck. “You have to understand one thing about me. He won’t be the only one (who feels his wrath). I was frustrated. You want to play the perfect game and it was a good win and I am driving home, heading to get sushi, and I don’t like sushi, I am circling around the parking lot and wondering why can’t I be happy? I am just going to wear my emotions on my sleeve. All good there (with Vance).”

This season has been anything but smooth sailing for the Broncos. Year one of the Sean Payton era has been full of inconsistencies and plenty of losing. The Broncos were 1-5 heading into Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers but was able to overcome some mistakes to prevail, 19-17.

Payton was very confident in his and his coaching staff's ability to turn things around for the Broncos after a disastrous 2022 season. Seven weeks into Payton's inaugural season, the Broncos are in the same spot that last season's team was, 2-5.
