The Denver Broncos had a promising start to the season but have slowed down of late, dropping three of their last four games, and four of their previous six. Head coach Vic Fangio provided an update on the injured Teddy Bridgewater, who is out with a concussion, and it doesn't seem likely that the Broncos' quarterback returns to action in Week 17 against the Chargers. Via Troy Renck, Fangio revealed that Bridgewater is still in concussion protocols, and would need to clear a five-step process before he's eligible to return.

The long-term health of Bridgewater certainly takes precedent to the result in Week 17, so while the 7-8 Broncos are in dire need of a win over the division rival Chargers, they won't do anything that could compromise their quarterback's well-being. Instead, Drew Lock will likely get his second consecutive start under center, despite a lackluster showing in Week 16 against the Raiders.

Fangio also touched on his own future with the Broncos, via Andrew Mason. Fangio reportedly acknowledged that his job could very well be in jeopardy, but that for personal reasons he chooses not to think about that.

While he admits that his job security is far from guaranteed, he did state that he'd be eager to return to the Broncos in 2022, with or without a contract extension from the organization.

As it stands, Fangio is under contract with the Broncos through the 2022 season, having signed a four-year deal with the franchise prior to the 2019 campaign, Currently in his third year as head coach of the Broncos, Fangio has logged a 19-28 record across his first 47 games in charge.
