On Tuesday night, it was announced that Joey Bosa of the Los Angeles Chargers had signed a historically lucrative 5-year, $135 million contract extension that will keep the 25-year-old defensive lineman on the team through 2025.

Though the contract was impressive and seemingly on par with Bosa’s impressive production, Von Miller of the Denver Broncos seemed less than enthused about the contract, saying that the deal is making a statement that Bosa is the best defensive player in the league, which Miller believes he still can stake a claim to, via Twitter.

Certainly, Miller is one of the most widely respected defensive players in the league, and he has only missed the Pro Bowl once in his nine-year career (in 2013 when he missed seven games).

Miller is already 25th in NFL history in sacks with 106. Miller is the Bronco’s all-time leader in sacks with that number by a wide margin, and he is also the all-time leader in tackles for loss for the team.

Since the NFL began tracking the stat in 1999, Miller accrued the fourth-highest single-season total for that statistic as well, with a staggering 28 tackles for loss in 2012 for the Broncos.

According to Pro Football Reference, Miller is 10th all-time in tackles for loss with those 135, trailing a cavalcade of Hall of Famers and future Hall of Famers.

At only 31 years old, Miller still has a few years of peak production ahead of him, so he will likely have every opportunity to back up his words on Bosa’s deal.
