In wake of the Washington Redskins making the big splash trade for Pro Bowl quarterback Alex Smith on Tuesday night, Kirk Cousins is now destined to live somewhere other than Washington D.C. rather soon.

One of the teams believed to have some significant interest in landing Cousins is the Denver Broncos. It is a shared mutual standing that Broncos' All-Pro outside linebacker Von Miller shared during his interview on “The Dan Patrick Show” on Wednesday morning, (h/t/ Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.)

“He knows exactly how I feel about Kirk Cousins and what he’d mean to our team,” Miller said. “And what he would mean to a lot of other teams. He’s the hot quarterback on the market right now. … Yeah, we need Kirk. We need Kirk. I’d like to have Kirk. We have great quarterbacks now. Kirk could take us over the edge.”

It has been quite clear that Cousins is looking for a lucrative long-term deal in free agency that he wasn't able to receive from the Redskins, which may have contributed to the team officially moving on. He will have a slew of teams looking to acquire his services such as the Broncos, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets and Buffalo Bills.

Cousins has demonstrated that he can be a reliable starting quarterback in the NFL. He's recorded more than 4,000 passing yards with at least 25 touchdowns and a passer rating above 90 in each campaign over the last three years. In the 2017 season, he threw for 4,093 yards on 64.3 percent completion rate with 27 touchdown passes with 13 interceptions, and 93.9 passer rating. This included finishing eighth in touchdown passes, ninth in completion percentage, and seventh in total passing yards.

The Broncos could have the upper hand over many of the other suitors due to their stout defense that features several All-Pro talents such as Miller. This would help alleviate much of pressure of him having to carry the team offensively. There are still a few weeks until the start free agency, but it's clear that Denver will be one of the teams in heavy pursuit of Cousins.
