Longtime Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has made it clear that he wants out of Motor City. Now, according to 9News insider Mike Klis, the Denver Broncos are already beginning discussions about a potential trade package for the 32-year-old NFL QB.

“I know they're talking about it today and tomorrow. I wouldn't be surprised if they make an offer. The Lions want to field offers this week. I wouldn't be surprised if Vic Fangio is saying, ‘Geez, I don't know if we want to wait for Lock,'” Klis said of the situation with the Broncos.

Klis is referring to Broncos starting quarterback Drew Lock, who was drafted in the second round (42nd overall) in the 2019 NFL Draft. He has not quite looked like the short-term solution for Denver with a league-leading 15 interceptions last season, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him in trade talks.

Matthew Stafford, on the other hand, had yet another excellent with no sort of team success to go along with it. In his 12-year Lions tenure, the team has only made the playoffs three times– bowing out all three times in the Wild Card round despite some truly tremendous numbers from the former UGA quarterback.

The former 1st overall pick has been exceptionally durable with the Lions, as he has put up over 4000 yards passing in all but one season he has appeared in where he played all 16 games.

It remains unknown if the Broncos will be able to land the talented QB, as numerous teams are understandably interested in pursuing the Lions’ all-time leader in passing yards and touchdown passes.
