Amid the possibility that the Denver Broncos are sold in 2022, former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning's name has frequently been thrown around as a potential heir to the franchise. Owner Pat Bowlen seems likely to sell the NFL franchise, and while Manning is well short of the $3 billion valuation of the franchise, though that wouldn't prevent him from getting involved in a minority ownership stake.
According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Manning has been approached by some of the investment groups looking to purchase the Broncos and has been offered the chance to have a minority ownership stake in the organization, as well as a management position.

As La Canfora mentioned, the sale of the Broncos could be finalized as early as Spring of 2022, so fans may get to see Manning back in the mix sooner rather than later.
Article Continues BelowSince retiring as a member of the Broncos in 2014, Manning and his family have resided in Denver and remained close to the organization. With the sale of the team impending, the opportunity for one of the franchise greats to get involved on a management and ownership level is ripe, and Manning seems ready to pounce on the opportunity.
A sale of the Broncos is expected to be worth nearly $3 billion. The Carolina Panthers were the most recent NFL franchise to undergo an ownership change, having been sold in 2018 for roughly $2.3 billion.
While Manning remains quite a bit shy of that $3 billion estimate, he's made a fortune from his NFL career and endorsements, so he should have no issue getting involved on a minority ownership stake.
