Mike McCarthy has become one of the top free agent coaches in the NFL after being fired earlier this season by the Green Bay Packers. There are quite a few teams that would love to have him on their sideline, but the Cleveland Browns could end up being the perfect landing spot for him.

According to a report from Arizona Cardinals reporter Bob McManaman, McCarthy will be the next head coach for the Browns.

Cleveland is one of the most attractive open head coaching positions in the NFL. That would not have been a thought at this time last season after the Browns went 0-16, but the franchise has turned itself around.

If McCarthy were to accept the position, he would have the opportunity to work with an extremely talented and young offense.

Baker Mayfield took over as the starting quarterback in Cleveland and appears to be the real deal. Cleveland seems to have finally found the elusive franchise quarterback that they have been searching for over the last few years. Add in fellow rookie Nick Chubb and star receiver Jarvis Landry and there are plenty of pieces for the next head coach to work with.

McCarthy has earned a lot of respect around the NFL for being a great offensive minded coach. His system grew old in Green Bay, but the Browns may find his offensive playbook refreshing for Mayfield.

While this report hasn't been confirmed by any other reporters, this situation is certainly something to keep an eye on moving forward.

McCarthy finished his 13-year tenure in Green Bay with a 125-77 record and led the Packers to a Super Bowl win back in the 2010 season.
