The Cleveland Browns are moving forward with Kevin Stefanski as their next head coach and he's begun to put together his coaching staff. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Cleveland is hiring former Washington Redskins interim coach Bill Callahan.

Callahan has been with the Redskins' coaching staff since he became the team's offensive line coach in 2015. Then, in 2017, Washington also gave him the role of the assistant head coach to Jay Gruden.

But when the organization fired Gruden earlier in the 2019 season, Callahan was named the interim head coach. In his 11 games as the interim head coach, the Redskins boasted a 3-8 record to end the season before ultimately joining the Browns.

Prior to joining the Redskins, Callahan was a well-respected offensive line coach long before his time in the nation's capital. Just a year before arriving in Washington, Callahan had spent three seasons as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

During his time in Dallas, the new Browns offensive line coach was crucial in helping the likes of Tyron Smith, Zack Martin, and Travis Frederick into formidable offensive linemen. In addition, he constructed an offense that was predicated on running the football, which could help with the Browns.

The addition of Callahan to Stefanski's staff in Cleveland should be celebrated by the team's fans. Over the past couple of years, the Browns have struggled to protect Baker Mayfield. In the regular season, Mayfield was sacked 41 times (16th most in the NFL).

As a first-year head coach, Stefanski is looking to add experienced coaches in prominent roles. Therefore, the decision to hire Callahan to aid the offensive line was a perfect move for the Browns.
