Freddie Kitchens and the Cleveland Browns are still awaiting Gerald McCoy’s decision on where to sign. The star free-agent defensive tackle has already visited with the Browns and Baltimore Ravens and will visit the Carolina Panthers on Friday.

However, Kitchens remains optimistic that the Pro Bowl defensive lineman will eventually land in “The Land,” per Josh Edwards of 247Sports.

Kitchens went on to share his impressions of McCoy, who met with Cleveland last week.

“I liked the kid. I liked the person. Of course I liked the player but more importantly just getting to know the kid…What he says is important to him is important to us and vice versa.”

McCoy has stated recently that his main criteria for choosing which team to sign for is winning. And while the Browns have not done much winning over the past few years, they are certainly on an upward trajectory.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield had a promising rookie season as he led the Browns to a 7-8-1 season. And this offseason, they got Mayfield another major weapon in star wideout Odell Beckham Jr., who is expected form quite a formidable receiving duo with his good friend, Jarvis Landry.

With an impressive collection of talent on the roster, Cleveland appears to be in a decent position to have its first winning season since 2007.

McCoy’s addition to their defense would certainly be a huge boost to their chances. But they will just have to wait a little longer for the star lineman to make his decision.
