The Cleveland Browns swung a big trade with the Miami Dolphins for wide receiver Jarvis Landry with the intention of giving him the big-money long-term contract he was looking for. And now, it appears he’s about to get that deal.

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Landry and the Browns are set to agree to terms on a 5-year, $75.5 million extension with $47 million in guaranteed money. Landry will earn close to $16 million this season after signing his franchise tender with the Miami Dolphins prior to getting traded.

When he was with the Dolphins, Landry was reportedly seeking a contract similar to Green Bay Packers wideout Davante Adams, who scored a four-year, $58 million deal with $30 million in guaranteed cash. As it turns out, he got a sweeter deal with the Browns than what Adams got.

Landry, 25, has been one of the most productive receivers around since coming into the league in 2014. He’s averaged 100 catches, 1,000 yards, and six touchdowns in his first four seasons and has been a Pro Bowler each of the last three years. He fell just short of 1,000 yards last season, but he still led the league with 112 catches and also had a career-high nine touchdowns.

Despite concerns about him being a relatively limited slot receiver, the Browns apparently feel confident enough in Landry's abilities to make him one of the highest paid receivers in the game. His $15 million average salary ranks him fifth behind Antonio Brown, Mike Evans, DeAndre Hopkins, and Sammy Watkins.

With Landry locked up for the long term, he is now set to lead a young and talented Browns receiving corps that also features the mercurial Josh Gordon as well as former first-round pick Corey Coleman.
