The Cleveland Browns have made a major future investment in their newly acquired wide receiver. Cleveland has agreed to a three-year contract extension worth up to $58 million with former Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy after their trade for the star in the 2024 NFL free agency period, Ian Rapoport reports.

Browns make a deep commitment to wide receiver depth with Jerry Jeudy contract extension

Jeudy's $58 million extension includes $41 million fully guaranteed. The move keeps Jeudy on the books and helps Cleveland retain depth at the wide receiver position. Hopefully, the 24-year-old can take a step forward after his roller-coaster Broncos tenure.

Denver traded Jerry Jeudy after he spent his first four NFL seasons with the team. The Broncos selected him with the 15th pick in the first round of the 2020 Draft. Jeudy had a respectable rookie season, amassing 856 yards and three touchdowns in 16 games.

However, he did not take the jump fans and analysts expected him to in the following years.

Jeudy only played 10 games during the 2021-22 season, totaling 467 yards and zero TDs. Then, in 2022-23, he reminded everyone why he was a highly touted receiver prospect. In his third year, he jumped to a career-high 972 yards and six TDs in 15 games.

Nevertheless, Jeudy's last year with the Broncos could not convince the team to keep him. He comes off a 2023-24 season with 758 yards and two TDs. Despite his up-and-down experience with Denver, Jeudy looks to bring a newfound energy to a promising Browns squad.

Cleveland looks to make a deeper 2024 run with a revamped squad

In addition to Jeudy, the Browns retain star receiver Amari Cooper and standout quarterbacks Joe Flacco and Deshaun Watson. The squad looks to have another solid season in its pursuit of making a deep run.

The Browns finished 2023-24 at 11-6, but unfortunately, the team lost 45-14 to the Houston Texans in their AFC Wild Card matchup. If Cleveland gels on offense and continues their top-ranked defensive assault, they will undoubtedly go farther in the playoffs in 2024.
