Baker Mayfield has been one of the most talked about players in the NFL over the last couple of weeks since taking over the starting quarterback job for the Cleveland Browns. Not only has he taken over the starting job, he has helped the Browns win one game and nearly win last week against the Oakland Raiders.

Now, Mayfield is receiving major praise from a defensive coordinator who is also in the AFC North. That coordinator would be the Baltimore Ravens' Don Martindale. He made a bold statement as shared by Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, calling Mayfield this generation's Brett Favre or John Elway.

Putting his name in the same sentence as those two is an extremely bold statement. Mayfield's aggressive and gun-slinging game certainly fits with them, but he is just a rookie and both of the other quarterbacks are Hall of Famers.

Throughout the first game and a half of his NFL career, Mayfield has completed 59.4 percent of his pass attempts for 496 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. He has shown off his leadership ability and has the fans 100 percent backing him as well.

It has been a long time since Cleveland was excited about the Browns. Deeper than that, it has been even longer since the Browns were confident in any quarterback that was starting for them.

Mayfield has taken over as the king of Cleveland with LeBron James no longer in town. He is the face of the city and is embracing that role. Add on to that that he has the swagger and skill to back up the hype and the Browns appear to be in great hands.
