Odell Beckham Jr. and the Cleveland Browns are looking to secure their first win of the 2020 season on Thursday night versus the Cincinnati Bengals. While both teams prepare for Week 2, Beckham was seen wearing a “VOTE” shirt during pre-game on Thursday night.

Across all major sports leagues, athletes and coaches have worn attire that pertains to racial injustice or social issues. Besides sporting the names of racial injustice victims, some athletes have sported clothes that call for action—like voting.

The NFL as a whole has made a concerted effort on making sure players are educated on voting amid the events that have transpired in recent months. As a result, the league created a voter registration initiative ahead of November's election. Also, the NFL will close all team facilities on Election Day later this year.

As for Beckham, the Pro Bowl wideout is looking to bounce back after an abysmal outing in Week 1 versus the Baltimore Ravens. Beckham finished the game with three receptions for 22 yards on 10 targets.

Above all, the Browns would be routed by the Ravens, 38-6, inciting the media to criticize Cleveland and Beckham. The talented pass-catcher shared that he struggles to cope with the censure he receives from fans and the media.

A positive development that has transpired in the past year is athletes have become more open to speaking out against social issues. While the upcoming election is a crucial one for our country, Beckham and the NFL are attempting to make sure everyone lets their voice be heard in November by voting.
