One of the best things going in golf right now is the rivalry between Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka. Both golfers have leaned into it and even the fans have gotten involved as they take sides.

On Tuesday, the PGA Tour came down hard though, banning any fan who calls Bryson DeChambeau “Brooksy” from now on.

Fans started using it as a way to taunt DeChambeau by calling him what Kopeka's nickname is. It seemed to clearly get under the skin of Bryson.

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan explained the decision, via TMZ.

“The barometer that we are all using is the word ‘respect,'” Monahan told reporters. “And to me, when you hear ‘Brooksy' yelled or you hear any expression yelled, the question is, is that respectful or disrespectful?”

Monahan noted any fan that is caught yelling “Brooksy” at Bryson DeChambeau will be banned from that particular event.

It seems a bit harsh and the ruling quite frankly is pretty lame. Why DeChambeau gets so worked up about it is anyone's guess at this point. But the ruling by the PGA certainly takes some of the flare out of the rivalry between the two.

Fans will now have to explore other, “respectful” ways to stir the pot and keep the rivalry in full swing during events.
