On Monday, a report surfaced that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could trade tight end O.J. Howard for the right deal, but now, it doesn't look like he will be traded at all.

According to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, a team called about Howard, but was told that he is not available.

With the NFL trade deadline coming up at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, it's looking more and more like Howard will remain a Buccaneer at least through the end of 2019.

Through six games this season, Howard has logged just 13 catches for 176 yards in what has been a very disappointing year for him.

Howard, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was originally selected by the Buccaneers in the first round (19th pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He played in 14 games during his rookie campaign, catching 26 passes for 432 yards and six touchdowns. Injuries then limited him to just 10 contests in 2018, but during his time in the field, he was very productive, hauling in 34 receptions for 565 yards and five scores.

As a result of Howard's impressive per-game production last season, many expected him to have a breakout year this season, particularly in a Tampa Bay offense that seemed to be on the rise.

However, Howard has barely even been a factor thus far in 2019, and while that is not all his fault, it is still a bit discouraging seeing how well he played last season.

Tampa Bay has gotten off to a 2-5 start and will take on the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
