Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski has lasted in the NFL for years because of his tenacity and toughness. He has four Super Bowl rings to his name, coming out of retirement to join his good buddy Tom Brady in Central Florida and give the Buccaneers their first title since 2002.
Gronkowski is a fun-loving guy. He likes to chill, dance, and eat. He’s a simple man with simple pleasures. So when someone asked him if he watches game tape during his free time, the 6’6″ man-child gave a not-so-surprising answer (via ESPN).
“No. No. I just run by guys. If I’m feeling good, then I’m feeling good. I don’t watch film, but I do watch film when the team is showing it. And every once in a while, I watch games and study.”
Despite his rather relaxed approached, Gronkowski has found immense success in the NFL. He’s a former Comeback Player of the Year, a four-time All-Pro First Team member, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, and was chosen to the NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team. So yeah, there might be something to his cool mindset.
The 42-year-old star, however, admitted he uses a proven cheat sheet when studying an opponent: Tom Brady.
“I actually do go up to Tom, cause I know Tom watches like 40 hours of film. I go ‘Tom, who’s covering me this week? What type of coverages are they doing? That’s why I love playing with you, Tom.'”
Rob Gronkowski, Tom Brady, and the Buccaneers look to notch their third straight win on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.
