Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski has revealed the real reason for coming out of retirement, and it has to do with his mom.

During an appearance on The Ellen Show, Gronkowski was asked for his reasons for coming back to the Buccaneers and the NFL. Gronk said Tom Brady was a pull, and the weather is nice,.

However, his mom lives only a few hours away and that makes him most excited about joining the Buccaneers:

“You know, everyone keeps asking me ‘Did Tom (Brady) get you to Tampa?’” Gronkowski said during an appearance on The Ellen Show via Dakota Randall of NESN. “Well, of course it didn’t hurt that Tom went to Tampa, you know, and the opportunity to go to Tampa was there too. But you know, Tom was like the appetizer, and then there’s a few other reasons. I love the weather. “But the main course, the main reason why I came down to Tampa to play is because my mother live two hours away. She can get to all the games, all eight of our home games. Whenever I have days off, she’s two hours down the street and I get to see her. So she’s super excited.”

The hope for the Buccaneers and Gronkowski is that he can have his mom watch another couple of Super Bowl wins. During the 2018 season with the New England Patriots, Gronkowski caught 47 passes for 682 yards and three touchdowns.

Gronkowski was a main focal point of the Patriots offense, but with the Buccaneers he will just be one of many playmakers along with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and OJ Howard, and that's something that has to be exciting for Brady and the entire squad as they try to capture a Super Bowl in Tampa Bay.
