The Tampa Bay Buccaneers came into this offseason with tons of free agents to deal with. They have seen a mix of new talent and returning players while seeing others sign with different teams. With the NFC up for the taking, surrounding Tom Brady with enough talent to compete for another title is the primary goal.

Although most of the big-name players are taken, the Bucs are bringing in more talent. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Buccaneers have re-signed running back Giovani Bernard to a one-year deal.

With the loss of Ronald Jones, who signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, Bernard is an important addition. He will provide depth behind Leonard Fournette. Although his usage with the team wasn't that heavy last season, he said that he is happy with his role. Whether he gets a shift in his responsibilities under new head coach Todd Bowles, he should provide decent depth for the Buccaneers.

Bernard joined Tampa Bay last season after spending eight years with the Cincinnati Bengals. He played in 12 games last season, recording just 181 yards from scrimmage. He compiled 771 yards from scrimmage in the prior season. As someone who can run and catch passes out of the backfield, he gives Brady plenty of options.

Tampa Bay could still bring in more talent, like defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh, who is looking to return to the squad. The Bucs should be able to contend for the NFC with so many other teams taking steps back.
