The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have won the NFC South division for the third season in a row, and this one was arguably the most surprising, as many expected them to be one of the worst teams in the league this season. Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles spoke about the achievement and the work involved to make it happen.
“Nobody turned on each other, when everybody counted us out, we didn't,” Todd Bowles said, via Greg Auman of Fox Sports.
The season was not smooth for the Buccaneers, but they ultimately achieved the goal of winning the NFC South. The team lost six of seven games at one point in the season, and Bowles said that was difficult, but the Buccaneers stayed together and turned things around.
As a result, the Buccaneers will host a playoff game against the No. 5 seed in the NFC, which will be either the Dallas Cowboys or the Philadelphia Eagles. In all likelihood, the Buccaneers will face the Eagles. The only way the Buccaneers will face the Cowboys, is if Dallas loses to the Washington Commanders, and the Eagles beat the New York Giants in the late window of games this Sunday.
Regardless, it will be interesting to see how the Buccaneers fare against what should be a strong No. 5 seed in the NFC. For now, the team and the fans will celebrate a third-straight NFC South title while sitting back and watching the late games unfold to determine the matchup for next weekend in the Wild Card game.
