Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has received a multitude of tributes and farewell messages ever since he decided to officially retire on Tuesday. Now, EA Sports’ Madden NFL video game series has elected to say its goodbyes to the seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback with a special honor.

The official Twitter account for Madden NFL announced on Thursday that it has upped Brady’s overall rating on Madden NFL 22 to a 99.

Brady is now the highest-rated quarterback in the video game, as he is just one rating point above Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes. The three-time NFL MVP winner also joins Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett and Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams as the only 99 overall rated players in the video game.

Brady opened up the season as a 97 overall rated quarterback, which came following his heroics in leading the Buccaneers to their second Super Bowl title last season. He has been a 90-plus overall rated player since Madden NFL 2004. More so, he has also been a part of the prestigious “99 Club” five other times in the video games series' history, including Madden NFL 08.

Putting aside the fact that Brady called it a career earlier this week, his 99 overall rating sure is much deserved after he orchestrated an NFL MVP-like regular season in the 2021 campaign. For one, he led the league in passing touchdowns with 43, which was the third 40-plus touchdown passes campaign of his career.

To go from a 51 overall rated player in Madden NFL 2001 to finishing his career as part of the “99 Club” in Madden NFL 22 sure is quite an impressive feat for the future Hall of Famer.
