Arguably the biggest storyline to come out of the NFL offseason on Sunday was (now-former) New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees officially announcing his retirement. None other than Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Tom Brady has chimed in on the conversation as he shared his thoughts on Brees calling time on his storied career.

The GOAT took to Twitter to send his message for Brees:

This pair have had more than a few bouts on the field through the years, and it's great to see how much mutual respect they hold for each other. At the end of the day, the NFL is one big family and as made evident in his post above, even the great Tom Brady draws inspiration from an icon such as Drew Brees.

While Brees will now be transitioning to the next phase in his life, the same cannot be said about Brady. The seven-time Super Bowl champ recently penned a new deal with the Buccaneers that will see him remain with the team for at least until 2022. Brady just put pen to paper a new $50 million deal that will allow him pocket $41.1 million in 2021 (not including incentives and bonuses). Nobody's complaining, though.

As we bid farewell to one legend, we can take comfort in the fact that football will still have Brady for at least two more seasons with the Buccaneers. Unfortunately, though, there will never be any Brady vs. Brees matchup in the future. That ship has sailed.

It has been a legendary career for Brees and we send him our heartfelt congratulations for all that he has done for the sport.
