Tom Brady has been in his fair share of controversies from his years of playing. From Deflategate to the cheating allegations in 2001, the now Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB is no stranger to being scrutinized by media. One of the biggest controversies of Brady's career came in 2015 after a suspicious hat made its way to his locker room.

Back in 2015, eagle-eyed fans noted that a “Make America Great Again” hat was spotted on Brady's locker. You may recall that the same hat is commonly associated with then-presidential candidate Donald Trump. When asked about this back then, Brady said that Trump gave him that hat, and talked about his golfing experience with the businessman.

Now, over seven years later, Tom Brady spoke about how the media interpreted his interactions with Donald Trump. Speaking to Variety, the Buccaneers QB said that he hasn't talked to the infamous president in years. Brady also slammed the media for misrepresenting his friendship with Trump.

“I think [the press] just mischaracterized a lot. And my personality isn’t ever one to insult anybody. I have plenty of my own flaws. I’m not here to point out anyone else’s flaws. There are things that I agree with. There are things that I don’t… I don’t see eye to eye with anyone. And I’m not responsible for what other people say. I’m really responsible for what I say.

Brady has caught a lot of flack for his apparent closeness with Donald Trump. Trump's divisive comments, inappropriate remarks, and questionable decision-making made him one of the most unpopular presidents of all-time. Brady' friendship with Trump didn't sit well with a lot of people, particularly those affected by the president's incendiary comments.

However, Brady has long insisted that his friendship with Trump did not mean he agreed with the president's… questionable ideologies. The Buccaneers QB even went so far as to take some jabs at the ex-President during his team's visit to the White House in 2021.
